Welcome to the New Jersey State Fair
The 19 acre Fairgrounds is divided into areas, grouped around a theme. The Agriculture Area contains 5 open-sided livestock barns with livestock rotating throughout the ten days. A Horse Show Area contains three show rings. Quarter Horse classes run August 4-6, and followed by a variety of classes, day and night August 7-13. The Outdoor Entertainment Area features Chick Singer Night, Battle of the Bands, oxen pull, demo derbies, equestrian shows, motocross, mud bog, and tractor & truck pull. RoNetco Supermarkets sponsors the Family Entertainment Area with Chainsaw Artists, K-9s in Flight, Racing Pigs, Petting Zoo, Dinosaurs Rock and Performing Arts Tent. Local vendors, artisans, crafters, gardeners and homemade product producers will be on display throughout the entire 10 days.
Special events include a Tribute to Our Troops Weekend on August 5 and 6. The Queen of the Fair Pageant and Lumberjack/Lumberjill completions are held on August 5. The 2017 Fiddlers’ Competition takes place on August 6. On August 10, a Polish Night features live music, dancing and polka contest. Sussex County’s Got Talent show will be held on August 12. A Steam Robotics Shed is manned daily.
New this year is a Natural Healing Tent, with different healing modalities on Wednesday, August 9. Monday August 7 is Green Day, featuring recycling, alternative energy and farmland preservation themes. Senior day on Thursday, August 10 and Children’s Day on Tuesday, August 8, offers discounted admission.
