Lose the Quarantine 15!

In truth, 2020 was a year that many of us would like to forget. Between many individuals losing their jobs, having to quarantine, and living in fear for the health of ourselves and our loved ones, a new year provides a glimmer of hope for our lives to improve.

In order for our lives to change however, we must take action and facilitate that change. One of the most noticeable downsides of quarantining has been the excess weight that many of us have put on due to stress, poor eating habits, and being less active than usual. This new year more than ever, its vital that we take control back of our health and weight and take steps toward losing the quarantine 15, regaining control of our lives.

At Valley Integrative Pharmacy, we developed a 20 lbs in 20 days weight loss program to help you jumpstart your weight loss and get your health back on the right track. The 20 lbs in 20 days weight loss program includes:

  • A full meal plan for 21 days
  • Three different grocery list
  • Simple recipes for each meal
  • Lifetime access to the program
  • Lifetime access to the private Facebook support group
  • Discounts for specialized superfoods and nutraceuticals
  • Bonus “Approved Snacks” list
  • Bonus “Approved Drinks” list

The meals created for this program are designed to be as nutrient dense as possible, meaning that they are high in valuable vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. When creating this program, we made sure to include immune supportive foods and nutrients to ensure that we are keeping our immune system functioning optimally during this time.

The original release of this program in March showed individuals having great results, from effortless weight loss to increased energy levels.

Here is what some of the participants from the original 20 lbs in 20 days program had to say about their experience:

  • “My husband lost 28 lbs and I lost 14!” – Cathy
  • “After one week I’m down 5 ½ pounds! Getting this program was the best call I’ve made in months!” – Ellen
  • “7 pounds down in 3 days. I feel great so far!” – Christos

While everyone is different, most individuals lose between 12 and 20 pounds during the 20 days. If you are someone who has specific food sensitivities, the private Facebook support group will offer you a place to request meal substitutions to keep you on track.

If you would like to sign up for the 20 lbs in 20 Days program, contact Joe at Valley Integrative Pharmacy by phone 908-658-4900 or email [email protected]. See ad, page 3.

Its recommended that you consult with a doctor before beginning any nutrition/exercise program. This program is not meant to diagnose or treat any medical conditions.

Tick Talk

Spring officially sprung on March 21. We have turned our clocks ahead. We are looking forward to warm winds, sunny skies and the smell of fresh cut grass. The daffodils and tulips have recently bloomed and we are just starting with the yard work that comes with the warmer weather.  Sadly, another season has started ramping up.  Tick season.

•             The best form of protection is prevention. Educating oneself about tick activity and how our behaviors overlap with tick habitats is the first step.

•             According to the NJ DOH, in 2022 Hunterdon County led the state with a Lyme disease incidence rate of 426 cases per 100,000 people. The fact is ticks spend approximately 90% of their lives not on a host but aggressively searching for one, molting to their next stage or over-wintering. This is why a tick remediation program should be implemented on school grounds where NJ DOH deems high risk for tick exposure and subsequent attachment to human hosts.

•             Governor Murphy has signed a bill that mandates tick education in NJ public schools. See this for the details.  Tick education must now be incorporated into K-12 school curriculum. See link:

•             May is a great month to remind the public that tick activity is in full swing. In New Jersey, there are many tickborne diseases that affect residents, including Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease, Powassan, and Spotted Fever Group Rickettsiosis.

•             For years, the focus has mainly been about protecting ourselves from Lyme disease. But other tick-borne diseases are on the rise in Central Jersey. An increase of incidence of Babesia and Anaplasma are sidelining people too. These two pathogens are scary because they effect our blood cells. Babesia affects the red blood cells and Anaplasma effects the white blood cells.

•             Ticks can be infected with more than one pathogen. When you contract Lyme it is possible to contract more than just that one disease. This is called a co-infection. It is super important to pay attention to your symptoms. See link.
