Are You in the White Sheep Tribe?

Aug 03, 2024 09:43PM ● By Janet StraightArrow

Do you feel outcast, alone, not fitting in to your family, and even some of your friends anymore? You are living a new focus and lifestyle and wonder why you have to leave? Why am I the one so different? Why can’t they see that this enlightened way is happier and healthier for all of us?

In tribal societies we may see family as our original tribe. In walking a spiritual walk different than our nuclear family, we may be rejected, made fun of, shamed, and told we are bad, wrong, or experience any number of attempts in trying to bring us back into the roles, rules, control, beliefs, patterns, religion, or acceptance of what the family stands for.

Sometimes we are the ones who speak up on what is abusive or unhealthy in the family and we are rejected. We are even called crazy. Jesus and Buddha were called crazy too in their time. We are often called the black sheep of the family because we do not allow control and abuse. I see us as the white sheep. We are opening up a new paradigm for living which is actually as old as Jesus and Buddha taught thousands of years ago.

Each new generation has individuals who are exploring and experiencing life as spiritual beings and breaking the roles and rules of the family, friends, culture, or religion that do not fit into their new paradigm. There is an excitement and peace we have when we blend spiritual wisdom with practical living. It feels correct and makes sense and is easy to move ahead in our lives without anger, restrictions, and judgment.

In rejecting the expectations of the people who want to control us, we may be called the black sheep of the family because we do not believe in the old ways. There are some white sheep that buy into the program that we are wrong and bad and try to fall back into the family or group. However, once we wake up. trying to go backward causes great harm mentally and physically.

Letting go of family and friends may be painful, yet listening and participating in ways that hurt and do not support us at all are not tolerable either.

Unconditional love means no conditions. Unfortunately, in families, and other groups there are conditions, beliefs, and ways of living that are expected.

WE ARE AT A CROSSROADS

I find a number of people who come to work with me are the white sheep of the family. We are the ones to lead the way to new ways of living in our bodies and culture. We are breaking patterns on disease of mind and body and toxic relationships.

It takes great strength to stop the patterns of allowing others to control us and to fit in where we do not fit anymore. White sheep are the ones to breakthrough and become free and comfortable exploring ideas and ways of being that others are afraid of or have judged wrong. No longer people pleasers in order to fit in, we stand out even when silent, as we do not agree or participate in ways that we see hurt all of us.

Spiritual growth is accepting where each person is. Everyone has their own level of consciousness and belief systems that have nothing to do with us. Giving up co-dependence means we do not have to fit into another way. We can take space and find our own way.

BE TRUE TO YOU

Finding our own tribe happens organically when we are true to us and not others. Matching energy finds itself and we have a tribe of acceptance even when we differ in several areas of understanding as long as we are seeking unconditional love and learning together. We seek mutual respect and desire for support. We do not have to agree on everything. We also do not have to tolerate control, manipulation, judgment, and blame.

As more people awaken spiritually we tend to be open to new ways of thinking and elevating all. More positive and loving, we do not agree to limits on our sex, relationships, jobs, or roles in the family. We find ways of living and seeing the world through new eyes that do not agree with people we gave been with for years. This is most difficult of all as we want for everyone to love one another and get along.

It’s easy to be with people who have no judgments and clear boundaries and seek learning and greater expression, truth, and love.

Any tribe is going to have differing opinions and ideas. The key is to honor our uniqueness and join where we can together. Making no one bad but seeing how we can elevate all.

You may still find ways to be with family and friends as you build a community of people who are white sheep on their path too.

There is no need to put anyone down. Stay positive, peaceful, and loving. This is the journey of the spiritual warrior. Enjoy the Journey

Tick Talk

Spring officially sprung on March 21. We have turned our clocks ahead. We are looking forward to warm winds, sunny skies and the smell of fresh cut grass. The daffodils and tulips have recently bloomed and we are just starting with the yard work that comes with the warmer weather.  Sadly, another season has started ramping up.  Tick season.

•             The best form of protection is prevention. Educating oneself about tick activity and how our behaviors overlap with tick habitats is the first step.

•             According to the NJ DOH, in 2022 Hunterdon County led the state with a Lyme disease incidence rate of 426 cases per 100,000 people. The fact is ticks spend approximately 90% of their lives not on a host but aggressively searching for one, molting to their next stage or over-wintering. This is why a tick remediation program should be implemented on school grounds where NJ DOH deems high risk for tick exposure and subsequent attachment to human hosts.

•             Governor Murphy has signed a bill that mandates tick education in NJ public schools. See this for the details.  Tick education must now be incorporated into K-12 school curriculum. See link:

•             May is a great month to remind the public that tick activity is in full swing. In New Jersey, there are many tickborne diseases that affect residents, including Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease, Powassan, and Spotted Fever Group Rickettsiosis.

•             For years, the focus has mainly been about protecting ourselves from Lyme disease. But other tick-borne diseases are on the rise in Central Jersey. An increase of incidence of Babesia and Anaplasma are sidelining people too. These two pathogens are scary because they effect our blood cells. Babesia affects the red blood cells and Anaplasma effects the white blood cells.

•             Ticks can be infected with more than one pathogen. When you contract Lyme it is possible to contract more than just that one disease. This is called a co-infection. It is super important to pay attention to your symptoms. See link.
